Jeff Lima is put on report for a leg twist. -

South Sydney's Jeff Lima was put on report after attempting to twist the injured knee of Anthony Watmough.

SOUTH Sydney forward Jeff Lima will serve just one week on the sidelines for a leg-twisting tackle on Anthony Watmough that has been roundly condemned by rugby league commentators.

After reviewing footage of the incident, the match review committee deemed it worthy of a grade two dangerous contact charge, attracting a base of 250 penalty points, which is equivalent to a two week ban.

But due to Lima's good record, the suspension dropped to one week when the enforcer choose to enter an early guilty plea.

During his commentary of the Rabbitohs' clash with Manly, renowned rugby league caller Phil Gould said the leg twist was "against the spirit of the game" and that line was followed up by irate Sea Eagles coach Geoff Toovey, who labelled it "suspicious" in the post-match press conference.

Watmough had been a shock inclusion for the Friday night blockbuster after he picked up a knee injury the weekend before against the Warriors.

Geoff Toovey delivers a killer blow up after Manly's loss to Souths.

The only other player to be cited from the weekend's round 23 matches was North Queensland front-rower Ashton Sims, who was charged with a grade one careless high tackle for a lazy hit on Titans prop Ryan James.

Sims faces a one week ban, whether or not he fights the charge, due to 10 carry-over points from a previous charge.
