Search for missing teen continues - Sky News Australia

A police search for Melbourne teenager Siriyakorn 'Bung' Siriboon who disappeared in 2011 has entered its second day.

Searchers are focusing on the Old Joes Creek Retarding Basin in Boronia after receiving new information about the girl's disappearance.

Bung, then aged 13, vanished after leaving her house in the suburb in June 2011 on her way to school.

Police announced they were searching the waterway and surrounding bushland on Monday, using members from the Puma Taskforce, police search and rescue and some SES volunteers.

Due to the size of the area, the search is expected to run for a number of days.

Police say it is one of a number of searches that investigators have conducted over the last couple of years to find Bung.

She left her home in Elsie Street, Boronia, around 8.30am on Thursday June 2, 2011.

The girl was seen by a neighbour a short time later in Elsie Street, walking towards Albert Avenue.

Bung did not arrive at school that day and has not been seen or heard from since.
